Sulzer Chess Meetup

Blood Drive With the American Red Cross
Monday, December 2 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Help other people in our community and give blood. American Red Cross staff will be doing the blood drawing. Register at Red Cross Blood Drive or you may call 800-733-2767 to register. Bring a photo ID or your blood donor card, or two other forms of ID. Eat a healthy meal and drink an extra 16 oz. of water and fluids before the donation. Please register online.
Trellus: Deep Stretch Meditation
Tuesdays, December 3, 10, 17 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Join us for a 60-minute Deep Stretch class where you'll unwind and recharge. In this free class, we'll hold stretches longer to release tension and promote balance. Then, we'll wrap up with a soothing 15-minute guided meditation. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned meditator, come as you are and take some time to connect with yourself and others in a comfortable space. Please register online.
Lake Effect Clarinet Quartet Holiday Spectacular

Lake Effect Clarinet Quartet presents their NINTH annual holiday program for kids from 1 to 92, featuring selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and much more. Phil Kline's Unsilent Night Holiday Soundscape
Thursday, December 12 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Phil Kline's public sound sculpture Unsilent Night is a holiday music event where participants simultaneously play one of four tracks on mp3, or mobile devices and speakers carried through city streets. We will meet in the Small Community Room at 6PM and then follow a route through the streets of Lincoln Square, ending at the Welles Park Gazebo. The walk will take approximately 45 minutes. Gene Ha at Comic Book Roundtable
Saturday, December 7 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Join us at the Comic Book Roundtable, where local writer/artist Gene Ha will be showing us how comic books are created! We'll learn about the process of drawing and telling a story through sequential art. We'll also hear about how the comics industry works from an expert.
Gene Ha is the creator of the series Mae and also the artist on Wonder Woman Historia, with writer Kelly Sue DeConnick from DC Comics. He has won four Eisner awards for his art, including Alan Moore’s Top 10 and several books for Marvel & DC Comics. You can read more about Gene and his work at: geneha.com.
Comic Book Roundtable is a meet-up group for fans with new topics every month. All opinions are welcome. This event is for adults and teens ages 16 and up. Gene will be signing autographs after the discussion. Please register online.
Adult Book Discussion: The Lincoln Highway (Online via Zoom)

Join Sulzer Regional Adult Book Club for a discussion of The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. Adult Daytime Book Club: In the Time of the Butterflies

This month the Sulzer Regional Library will be reading In the Time of the Butterflies. In the Time of the Butterflies is inspired by the true story of the three Mirabal sisters who, in 1960, were murdered for their part in an underground plot to overthrow Trujillo's regime. Alvarez breathes life into these historical figures--known as "las mariposas," or "the butterflies," in the underground--as she imagines their teenage years, their gradual involvement with the revolution, and their terror as their dissentience is uncovered.

Forward Chicago is hosting a Repair Cafe every 2nd Saturday of the month. This event will be held in our community room located on the first floor in our lobby area. In this program, Forward Chicago volunteers can repair jewelry, sew clothes, and repair general stuff too depending on the item. Adults and teens are welcome.

Tabletop Gaming Open Shop

Interested in other roleplaying and wargaming tabletop games? Join us for open shop where we play Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar, Necromundo, Kill Team and alternative RPGs like Mork Borg, Black Crusade (40k), Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands and more! We change it up as we go. Want to work on assembling/painting miniatures and talking Warhammer lore? We do that too. Open to teens, ages 13-19.
Teen Art Studio

Stop by the library to create some art. Art supplies will be provided- You must supply the creativity and magic. Paints, canvas, colored sand, easels, pencils, portrait paper, paint brushes and other art supplies will be provided. For teens in high school.
